How to style a modest summer dress?
As a hijabi, getting dressed can sometimes be a challenge especially in the heat. It's all about understanding how layers work and what looks good. Some people naturally have an eye for it, whereas for others it's more of a job. In this case, styling a modest summer dress depends on the dress itself. The more tricky one would be how to style strapless maxi dresses. To ensure it remains timeless and look like a one piece silhouette, pairing a strapless dress with a long sleeve blouse gives it an elevation. Furthermore, pairing the dress with shoes that work such as flats, sandals, heels or even sometimes sneakers. Of course, that refers to the look or style you're going for. For me, it's always either flats or heels. They align best with my style, so you would choose what aligns best with yours.

How to make a modest summer dress look more formal?
Oh if you know, you know. All Glamorous speaks for itself. Because everything I like, is naturally all glamorous. For a summer dress, the key to elevating your look is in the accessories and the way you wear the dress. Let me elaborate. If your dress is a free-flowing silhouette, adding a belt will help accentuate your hips immediately taking it from casual to semi-formal. Moreover, swapping out your flats or low heels to heels is a non-negotiable for me. I just really love me some heels. If that's not your thing, wearing embellished flats or more formal looking flats can also work. Instead of an everyday handbag, reach out for a clutch. Don't forget to accessorise.
Another way to immediately elevate any look, is makeup. It is what it is. But makeup can take your look from basic to classic. Any day. You can be wearing trackies, with makeup you're immediately looking put together and ready for the day. I'm not saying cake your face, but enhancing your natural features using neutral and elegant tones is ideal.
How can I look classy in summer?
Easy. Subscribe to All Glamorous and she'll sort you out. But in all seriousness, you can look classy during any season of the year. Winter, spring, summer or autumn. Looking classy is about knowing which items to shop for. Looking for all the evergreen items that you know will last a lifetime in your wardrobe. The type your kids and grandkids can wear after you. That's how you measure true classiness in a wardrobe.
As a hijabi in summer, yes it's hot and yes we feel the heat. But we can manage it especially by choosing breathable materials. Opt for neutral tones that compliment your skin as a basic guide. And from there, add pieces in you wardrobe with fun yet timeless colours such as red, navy, sage, yellow, etc. Don't rely on trends to help. They're temporarily available to fill in the spot for the next trend. And as the infamous Karl Lagerfeld stated "trendy is the last stage before tacky". We don't want to be there.
